SUGGESTED ITINERARY FOR A 2 NIGHT STAY |
FRIDAY EVENING
Arrive Vineyard Motel
Dinner at Vineyard Motel at about 7.30 p.m.
|
SATURDAY MORNING
Start at the Visitors Information Centre to see the Hologram
Continue along the Canowindra Road to the Japanese
War Cemetery - the only japanese war cemetery outside Japan.
Follow the signs to the POW camp and listen to the snippets of
information via your mobile. Travel along Cherry Tree Avenue to the
Japanese Gardens. I can't recommend the audio tour highly enough -
a must do. Enjoy lunch at the Gardens.
|
SATURDAY AFTERNOON
After lunch, drive up the hill to the lookout for a magnificent view of
Cowra, then meander down the track at the back of the hill to the Art
Gallery and the Peace Bell just outside the Council Chambers.
The Peace Bell again is unique in that it is the only Japanese Peace
Bell in the World that is situated outside the Capital city of the
Country to which it was given.
Wander across the road to the Art Gallery and enjoy the latest
exhibitions.
Drive out to the Kalari Cellar door where they also have regular
exhibitions in their Gallery. Sample their wines while you
browse the gallery. Come back to The Mill (with your discount VIP
Brochure) and enjoy 15% discount on all your purchases.
Load up your car boot with wine and goodies continue on to The Quarry
for some more wine sampling. Make a reservation for dinner while
you are there - if you haven't booked in already.
|
|
SATURDAY EVENING
Dinner either at The Quarry Restaurant (walking
distance), in House, at another of Cowra's great eating places, or BYO
BBQ.
Perhaps a visit to Darby's Falls observatory.
Enjoy our clear night skies.
|
SUNDAY MORNING
Enjoy your continental breakfast - and a cooked breakfast (if so
ordered).
Check out and then head off to Canowindra. Visit the Age of Fishes
Museum, the Trading Post, on to Tom's Waterhole winery and enjoy a tour
of a working winery - see how a winery actually works. Enjoy a
gourmet ploughman's lunch (prebooking preferred) or go to "taste
Canowindra" and indulge your tastebuds there. Check out the
galleries.
Enjoy a convivial final cup of coffee then head back home....
...to return another day soon and enjoy what you didn't get to do on
this visit. Don't forget, every season is different in Cowra, so
there is always something new to see and do.
or just come back to us and chill out on our verandahs, sip wine, read a
book, bring your friends and have a chance to actually catch up with
each other - in just the very nicest surroundings.
or - do it all again.
